    HAPPY PA WEEK!!

    From the AAPA:

The theme of this year’s PA Week is PAs Are Essential. During the COVID-19 response, PAs have stepped up like never before. You’ve shown how flexible, adaptable, and collaborative you can be: testing, diagnosing, and treating COVID-19 patients; conducting telemedicine visits; redeploying to different specialties; or continuing to provide healthcare for those who need it most.

On Tuesday, October 6, we’ll be launching a new PAs Are Essential video which you can share with your social media followers. In the meantime, check out and share our “PAs are Essential” text video. Make sure to use the hashtags #PAsAreEssential and #PAweek to follow the PA Week activity on social media.

On Wednesday, October 7, Share Your Why with us. We want to know why you decided to become a PA. What inspires you about the profession? What’s your favorite part of being a PA? Share Your Why, tag three PAs you know to do the same, and then see if your post is featured on AAPA’s social channels.

We’re calling all PAs to Be a PA Advocate on October 8. The PA profession needs your unique voice, and we have a number of ways you can get involved. Join your state chapter and start using AAPA’s tools for state advocates, or sign up for AAPA’s Grassroots Advocacy and Information Network to stay on top of federal advocacy information. We’ve also got helpful tips on how you can conduct meetings with legislators while social distancing.

COVID-19 has created many questions about professional development or career next steps. On October 9, you can Ask AAPA Experts your questions. Andrea Lowe, MHA, PA-C, Director of Employer Strategy, and Tim McCall, PhD, Associate Director, Surveys & Analysis and author of AAPA’s Salary Report, will take over AAPA’s Instagram stories and answer your questions. Follow AAPA on Instagram and look for a chance to submit your questions on September 28 and October 1.

It’s nice to hear a thank you every now and then, right? (Thank you, PAs!) On October 10, we’re hosting the PA Thank-a-Thon. Use our shareable graphics to thank the PAs in your life – colleagues, mentors, family members, or friends. Recognize PAs and the essential work they do by saying THANK YOU!

PA Week is the perfect time to contribute to a cause that supports your profession! On October 11, be part of PA Giving Day and make a donation to the PA Foundation. Empower PAs to improve health in their communities and support the next generation of PA leaders through scholarship opportunities.

This PA Week, PAs have an opportunity to amplify public health messages from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to increase our nation’s immunization rates and reduce vaccine-preventable disease. Participate in Public Outreach Day on October 12 and share resources from HHS and the CDC on the importance of immunizations and vaccinations.
