    Basics to Fundamentals on Spina Bifida: Resources for the Practicing Primary Care Clinician

    Date: Tuesday, April 16, 2019

    Spina bifida is the most commonly-occurring complex congenital birth defect. Primary care clinicians provide a critical role in ensuring that children with spina bifida receive the appropriate diagnosis, care and how primary care pediatricians can effectively partner with subspecialists in caring for children with spina bifida. This webinar will focus on understanding all the body systems and the impact of spina bifida, while providing an overview of the medical issues associated with spina bifida. It will also explore some of the psychosocial factors of spina bifida and the understanding of these factors from a primary care perspective. This learning activity is eligible for AMA PRA Category 1 Creditâ„¢ and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Part 2. The webinar is free but prior registration is required.     Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy: Diagnosis, Primary Care and Emergency Room Care

    Although patients with rare conditions are primarily cared for by sub-specialists, the initial care pediatric patients receive in the medical home help establish early diagnosis that can inform prognosis, service planning, and monitoring for associated developmental and medical conditions. This webinar will highlight the updated care considerations and emerging therapies related to the care and management of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in the medical home and emergency room setting. Faculty will highlight the common issues affecting children with DMD and the role of the medical home and emergency room as valued and effective medical providers to patients with DMD. This learning activity is eligible for AMA PRA Category 1 Creditâ„¢ and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Part 2. The webinar is free but prior registration is required.
