Have you or your family member been diagnosed with a genetic condition?  Do you have 1 hour to be interviewed (virtually) for our NIH study on the use of AI?

By way of background our research group, the Medical Genomics Unit (MGU), at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), develops and studies computer-based technologies to better understand Genetic conditions to assist with diagnosis and management. Some of our studies involve applying artificial intelligence (AI) models to the field of genetics. We think this is important as these models are a growing part of both patient and physician resources as well as overall healthcare.

For the study, we will interview patients (or their parents/caregivers) who have diagnosed genetic conditions. We will use transcripts from these interviews to provide real-life descriptions of genetic/genomic conditions. We will analyze these de-identified transcripts with AI tools to compare how well they work in assessing these descriptions. We will compare these tools, including public models such as ChatGPT or Bard. In accordance with NIH policies, we will obtain full consent from participants.

Please see the flyer for more information: Informational Flyer for Interviews
