    These online electives are intended for neurologists and neurology trainees, nurses/nurse practitioners, physician assistants, genetics counselors, metabolic dietitians, and other clinicians and their trainees who evaluate and care for patients with undiagnosed neurological symptoms and disorders. All electives will also be recorded and posted following the live event on VMP's Educational YouTube channel.


    OBJECTIVES:
    At the end of each training, attendees should be able to:

    • Depending on the elective, identify symptoms associated with “metabolic stroke” or “metabolic encephalopathy”.
    • Discuss the physiology underlying the neurologic manifestations associated with the featured metabolic diseases.
    • List the testing to be done that can raise or lower suspicions about the featured metabolic diagnoses, or to confirm the diagnosis.
    • Employ current guidelines for the diagnosis and management of patients with metabolic causes of the featured metabolic diseases.
    • Integrate follow-up care of the patient with a geneticist familiar with metabolic disease.
